Community

Just look at all the different old fabric pieces that were used to create this wonderful antique quilt!
I love the faded colors, the hand stitching and the beautiful and interesting pattern that was created once the pieces were put together.

The fabrics used in old quilts usually came from worn dresses, shirts or other discarded garments...
...recycled and reworked into something useful and beautiful.

Through the years, quilting has been a way for women to express their creativity.
It has also provided a means for women to socialize and share experiences and support one another.

I am grateful to be living in these times when we have access to so many more women than those just in our neighborhoods ...

Through the internet and our blogs we can now reach out to a vast community of women...
...and share our experiences and provide encouragement and support.

We can also draw upon others experiences...
... and receive the generosity, kindness and support so freely offered here...

It is a powerful thing...

...this community.

Don't you just love how all of us as individual women...
...come together to form something beautiful?

Laura :)
...sharing all the kindness, generosity, beauty and treasure to be found at the flea market!

My mother recently finished making me the most amazing quilt, I can't stop marvelling at the detail in it and the amount of time that went in to a piece. Definitely one that I'll cherish for years to come.

What a beautiful post! The quilt is amazing, I love the idea of piecing together pieces of the past. Just as we are piecing together a community here at inspiration studio.

Thank you for this lovely post. I've been so in awe of bloggers generosity. There are so many wonderful women that I would never have exchanged kind words with without blogs. To connect with like minds and interests is truly amazing. It lifts the spirit and inspires one to carry on.

Yes, I love this community, when I started a blog I had no idea what it could lead to. That quilt, amazing! And such a perfect way to illustrate your point. We are forming something beautiful, right here, right now...

thanks so much, laura ~
what a beautiful tribute to this generous, kind and inspiring community ...
and should we 'drop a thread' we know
we can pick up right where we left off
with kindred spirit friends...

i have always thought that one ought to write
a book and sew a quilt to leave a legacy ...
and you have demonstrated so beautifully
here that we are indeed stitching our own
little legacy of goodness and sharing ...

blessings ~
