One-Hand Hanger

Recently, while out thrifting...I found this unusual vintage wooden hanger.
The unique mechanism allowed a busy housewife to hang up her skirt...

...or in this case her pretty vintage pink trimmed black crinoline slip...

with just one hand!

...very useful for busy folks.

and see?

oh so pretty and feminine...

Anyhow...

...it brought to mind a saying that I used to hear from my Dad ...

"I'm busier than a one handed paper hanger with hives"

and as Mom used to say...

"I need an extra set of hands"

or

"can someone give me a hand here?"

I guess juggling and being too busy are conditions that people have been struggling with for generations.

What do you think of my "One-Hand" Hanger?

You never know what handy idea or inspiration you might find at the flea market...

until next time...
:)

I keep my eyes open for the old wooden hangers, and this one is most unusual one I have ever seen! I think it's great; it's almost like a piece of art in itself! I love the stamp on it. (By the way, my Dad used have a saying similar to your Dad's about being one armed paper hanger...LOL).

Have a great day,
Lisa

I love old hangers and have many but not one like this. Maybe you could display this with some lovely piece of collage work from it and as a reminder to not let yourself get too "busy". I always say that busy is a four letter word...

Can't help but wonder why they didn't catch on.
