Flea Market Abundance

Where do you go for inspiration?
Do you like to hunt the flea markets as I do?

What gets those wheels turning in that creative, imaginative part of your mind?

You can find an abundance of just about everything at the market...
...and I love the search!

 Another weekend is upon us!
I hope you find the creative inspiration you need!

Happy Hunting!

Simple Inspiration...

For me... it is usually the simple things that bring inspiration.

I loved the texture and color of this old fishing creel found at the flea market last weekend.

Filled with the last of my hydrangeas,
it hangs on an old painted door.

I find a lot of my inspiration in nature
and in simple everyday objects...
...almost always old and showing signs of use.

I guess that's why I like the flea market so much!
:)

How about you?
 Where do you find inspiration?

One-Hand Hanger

Recently, while out thrifting...I found this unusual vintage wooden hanger.
The unique mechanism allowed a busy housewife to hang up her skirt...

...or in this case her pretty vintage pink trimmed black crinoline slip...

with just one hand!

...very useful for busy folks.

and see?

oh so pretty and feminine...

Anyhow...

...it brought to mind a saying that I used to hear from my Dad ...

"I'm busier than a one handed paper hanger with hives"

and as Mom used to say...

"I need an extra set of hands"

or

"can someone give me a hand here?"

I guess juggling and being too busy are conditions that people have been struggling with for generations.

What do you think of my "One-Hand" Hanger?

You never know what handy idea or inspiration you might find at the flea market...

until next time...

Forget Me Not

I love to find antique photo and autograph albums at the flea market...

...especially when the covers are made of worn faded velvet
... and the insides are filled with sweet sentiments in lovely old script.

Emily writes...

Fill up the days with kindnessAnd sweet shall be thy rest. The peace that comes from duty done
Shall make life's evenings blest.

These two were found at the flea market in New Milford, CT last summer.

In 1892 Lillian writes...

May the path way of life be ever strewn with roses...
...ever your friend

May your happiness be as deep as the ocean
and your sorrows as light as its foam.

Albums from a different era...
...messages written so as not to be forgotten.

Just a few words of sweet kindness found at the flea market...
:) Laura
