Everyday Gifts by Amy Duncan

The straight stitching of the apron edge, the pressed edges of the handkerchief, the sheen of the silk thread…as I gathered up the remnants of my mother’s sewing basket, I couldn’t help but admire the intricacy…the time and attention that contributed to this handiwork…the delicacy of the linen which belies its strength over time.  And though she has passed away, I was reminded that these designs are indicative of the everyday gifts she left me
always do your best; anything worth doing is worth doing well
