Flickr inspiration

Excuse me for my absence. Life has been a whirlwind at my place lately.

I have been into b&w photography the past few weeks very very much. I just love the way light and shade plays together so nicely, showing that not everything has to be either black or white to be beautiful.
It can be both.

I also adds a bit of a nostalgic feeling for me. Yet, it kind of holds time and pauses it for a second.
Black & white pictures remind me of a roll of film and how I used to use instant cameras for holidays. It reminds me of 'Dinner for One', a show in b&w I use to watch every year on New Years Eve.
Here are a few of my favourites:

1. Untitled, 2. ., 3. Untitled, 4. Dawg, 5. Untitled, 6. IMG_3477, 7. Le Cirque Rouge, 8. Miss Lilly, 9. Possibly addicted to the 'snooze' button in our house..(small series), 10. | r e b o r n |, 11. Three., 12. forest family

What sentiment do you connect with b&w images? I'd love to see your favourites.

Love, Suki

Suki - great images! I still feel too intimidated by b&w photography, but like it as a wonderful art form.
Ah - Dinner for one. We used to watch that every New Year's Eve when we were still living in Germany. Same procedure as every year, James...

how very interesting and timely is your post!! i spent yesterday processing a couple images for a BW photo competition at work (yes, we have a photo club there!) I seem to have created images with loads of stark black and white and very little grey. I'll share on Flickr...love your compilation. :) x

what a fabulous collection, suki!
i love how black and white allows you to focus on the subject at hand ... no color to distract, if i may ~ there is a clarity ... how the shadows and light truly make the image ...

i think i find black and white photography to be somewhat calming ... timeless ... and perhaps it is the vintage element of it that i am so attracted to ...

thanks so much for this!

what a wonderful series!! the expressions are so clear and undeniable. i think that is what i love about b/w -- it pares life down to its essence. it abstracts what i am trying to say to such simple and reconizable terms. i'll share some on flickr.

thanks for sharing these!
