Life's Soundtrack: Wishing & Dreaming

When I saw Suki's suggestion for our last playlist, Dave Thomas Junior's "3 Wishes" I knew what our next theme would be: Wishing & Dreaming.

Isn't every day just a little bit better when you take a minute to dream and let your imagination run wild?  Dreaming fills me with inspiration and gives me the motivation to find a way to turn those wishes into goals.

For our playlist, your song suggestions can be songs that encourage or remind us to wish, dream or look for miracles (see the first half of my list.)  Or the songs can be about things you are currently dreaming and wishing for in your own life (the second half of my list.)  Let me get us going:

Dave Thomas Junior - 3 Wishes (the song that started it all)
The Corrs - Dreams
Mary Chapin Carpenter - The Age of Miracles
The Airborne Toxic Event - Wishing Well
Rachael Yamagata - I Wish You Love
Plumb - Sleep (I get up at 5:30, I'm always dreaming of more sleep!)
Amos Lee - Learned A Lot
Lee Ann Womack - I Hope You Dance

I can't wait to hear some of your favorite Wishing & Dreaming songs - take a minute and share them with us in the comments section.  Next week I'll pull them together into a playlist of dreamy songs for all of us.

Oh, I love this one... and that photo!

I have always loved Crystal Gayle's Dreaming my dreams with you, and I totally love Somewhere over the Rainbow by Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwoʻole...

I agree with Kelly ... "Somewhere over the Rainbow" by Israel is one of my all time favorites.

Another make me feel good song is "Beautiful" by Nanci Griffith. Love her!

Fun exercise!

Now here I go again, I see the crystal visions... Both the haunting lyrics and evocative voice of Stevie Nicks always inspire me to dream 'in the stillness of remembering' - Dreams, from the Fleetwood Mac Album, Rumors, poignant, beautiful, dreamy. Does thunder only happen when it's raining? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Dsh9M6qnhE

I'm so excited about this one, even more so because so many of my favs are already showing up on this list.
Can I throw in I've Got a Dream from the Disney movie Tangled? It's quite catchy.

How about "Minnow and the Trout" by A Fine Frenzy. I love this song--it is definitely wishful--- saying that even though we're all different we are still similar in many ways and we should get along more and help each other. Wow, I am sappy tonight :)

Oh, and "Dreams" by The Cranberries popped in my head.

hi jamie...

you just have us all wishing and dreaming away here! :) this will be a great playlist with all these great suggestions!

a couple of thoughts... pearl jam's wishlist... brandi carlile (saw her at edmonton folk fest last year and she was soooo good!)... i thought also of 'dreams' by the cranberries, but since it was already said, maybe 'dreaming my dreams' also by the cranberries...

and i know this is not strictly a music video and involves some talking, and we've all seen it before... but gosh, i still can't watch this clip of susan boyle without crying my eyes out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxPZh4AnWyk&feature=related

have a lovely weekend jamie!

Dreaming lets you experience the sensation of your imagination as if its like really happening, so you push harder to accomplish what's ahead of you. :)
