Practicing Presence

The first day of the last month of the last year of the first decade in the new millennium.
WOW!
Until I wrote it out - just like that - I hadn't fully felt its weight and its significance.

I'm asking myself. I'm wondering. Where has the time gone? How has this year slipped thru my fingers and passed me by? And - with only one month left in this last month of this last year of this first decade in this new millennium - what is it that I can do to stretch it out..to capture..to preserve it?

Practice presence.
Practice being in the here and now.
Practice giving my full attention to each moment..without distraction. The distractions will surely be here tomorrow. This singular moment - will not.

And so - as I begin this month of holiday revelry and fun..as as the busy-ness and excitement fo the season escalates and whirls and swirls around me - I'm reminding myself to do only one thing at a time.
To focus on this..and not that.
To practice presence.

Won't you join me in that?

What a brilliant idea! I'm going to set aside my crazy worries about everything that needs to be done and just focus on the now.

Ahhh "Practice Presence" beautifully said. Thank you for the reminder! I've been away from my computer for over a week and felt so anxious being disconnected when I realized the other day...stay in the now and enjoy my time with family and friends. The computer will always be there and hopefully my new friends online too...so thank you for this lovely post of Practicing Presence ♥

What wonderful advice for this very busy month, when it's so easy to get distracted by busy. Practice presence is a powerful message and one I must take to heart.

its 10:30 pm and i've been dying to find some time for my yoga mat today. this has been a month of long stretches between yoga time.
my heart was saying...now?...my mind...'errrm, bed?'. thanks for this post. I think I shall head to my mat now before bed. :) x denise

Yes, I am working so hard at doing just that. Already I am having trouble keeping up with things, but I am not really stressing out about it. So that is a step in the right direction...
