remembering and honouring kim's auntie marg

for auntie marg ~ may your path be peaceful

it has been quiet in the studio today ...

kim's dear auntie marg passed away this weekend
and kim is with her family remembering and grieving
the loss of a woman who was the pillar of their families ...

auntie marg had a presence one couldn't miss ...
she was a strong, even minded, determined, no nonsense kind of gal
with a quiet gusto, a hearty laugh and a very kind, generous heart ...
she was a school teacher who remained unmarried without children of her own
yet i am certain every child she taught she considered her own ...
and certainly kim and her brother and cousins and their children
were so incredibly and fully loved by this special soul ~ they definitely were her children through and through ~ her home was always their home ...

what i loved about auntie marg was her facial expressions ...
i marvelled at how, when in a conversation with her, she would have this deep, genuine look
of full intent on every word you spoke ... she listened respectively and thoughtfully
and then she would break into this wonderful smile that would warm you through ...
she understood and acknowledged with a nod and with warmth in her eyes ...
i will always remember her for that.

the last time i saw auntie marg was in the local hardware store with her sister (kim's mom)
and they were shopping for new 'things' for her new suite ... she had downsized from her home, to an apartment and then to a suite in a lodge ...
they were like two giggly girls on a mission ...
joking about and have a gay ol time ...

auntie marg would shrug her shoulder and wink ...
kim's mom rolling her eyes ...
such a twosome!

beneath the merriment was the truth that auntie marg
was battling cancer ...

i was thinking this morning how perhaps God has a special castle
in heaven for those who fall victim to this wicked disease ...
and how auntie marg will be there now, graciously teaching
the little ones how to bake the tastiest cookies ...
oh! didn't i say? one of auntie marg's passions was to bake ...
and man, could she bake ... : )

i knew auntie marg mostly through the stories kim would share ...
and i think you know auntie marg as well, as she lives on most
certainly in our friend kim ...

take good care of you and yours, kim, during this difficult time ...
take time to be with your loved ones ...
and know that your auntie marg is without pain
and on a very peaceful path ...

love you ...

xo

ps. kim tells us about auntie marg at her café ...
