Inspiration and Dreams - How I Inspired my Nanny to Quit!

Don't you just hate it when you get to eat your very own words?

A few weeks ago, I wrote that birthing a creative dream was a transformational process leading to a surprising, and often unexpected result. And before that, I wrote that in following our dreams we would need buckets of courage, for those times when our dreams would test us. And before THAT, I wrote, 'And once simple was done, the hard part would show up for dinner.'

Hmph. What was I thinking?? I mean REALLY!?!

As any single, working parent knows, the most important person in your life, after your child, is your nanny. I was lucky to have one who not only bonded instantaneously with my daughter, but who loved my dog, and who understood my creative ramblings. You see, my nanny is an artist, herself. And she has been nurturing her own seedling creative dreams for some time now. Her dreams have been set in peat pots in her greenhouse. She's been popping in to water them from time to time, and they've grown...a little. But now she wants to plant them in the garden, properly staked, to see the sun.

And so, a week ago, she gave her notice. 'Because,' she said, 'you have inspired me.' How is that for a compliment and a bombshell?

Yes, I did introduce her to the Inspiration Studio. Yes, I've sent her links to many of the other amazing artists I've found over the last several months. And yes, I do have a fridge magnet that reads, 'Leap and the net will appear.'

I know thoughts do become things. And I know that the things we think, and the things we write are really very powerful indeed. But I never guessed that this transformational, creative journey would have impact on so many seemingly non-creative parts of my life. In so many ways, and in nearly every aspect, my life is in upheaval right now. Proper Shake-and-Bake, pass-me-the-Kleenex or make-me-laugh upheaval.

But the funny thing is that the miracles have started to happen too. Not four hours ago, I walked into a kitchen flooded with three inches with water. It was 5:30 pm on a Sunday night. My daughter's dinner was uncooked. My regular plumber's voicemail said that he was on holiday. My very helpful and very handy neighbour was not to be found. But then, a friend gave me the number of her plumber and said she would be right over. The plumber turned up just before she did...five minutes after my call. Amazing.

So. I trust in this process of life. I trust that the help and the support will be there. And I trust that I will find another fabulous nanny even as I wish my current one the best, most inspirational and creative success.

And oh, by the way,...if you know anyone who knows a really great nanny looking for work in Windsor, UK, please do send them my way.

Oh my. Well, I like to think that things happen for a reason, sometimes it just takes a while to see what they are.
Although it is a bit sad for you, this is a wonderful story, and I am seeing a happy ending down the road...
